The results are getting announced.  <a href=\"https:\/\/online.2iim.com\/cat-exam\/blogs\/cat-preparation-strategy\/announcements\/cat-2019-results-are-out-what-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"CAT 2019 (opens in a new tab)\">CAT 2019<\/a> and IIFT 2020 results are already out. XAT has released the candidate response sheet (Damn those verbal answers!). So, you will have a fair idea about where you stand and must be thinking about the options in hand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/media.giphy.com\/media\/lKXEBR8m1jWso\/giphy.gif?resize=344%2C258&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"344\" height=\"258\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>From here on, things would have turned out different for everyone. Broadly, there will be three kinds of people right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Group 1 &#8211; Exceptional performers. ?<\/li><li>Group 2 &#8211; The middlers.?<\/li><li>Group 3 &#8211; Meh\u2026?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This blog post will ignore Group 1 for the time being. (Why should they be here in the first place??)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Course of Action?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The biggest question for you right now would be-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large\"><p>Should I settle for a college this year or give a shot at CAT 2020?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/media.giphy.com\/media\/Z5KRNLYK7xir6\/giphy.gif?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The answer?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It is PERSONAL. You have to decide it for yourself.  But what are the important factors to consider for taking this decision? even more importantly what are the factors to not consider while deciding on the same?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube aligncenter wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Settle for a B-school or attempt CAT 2020?\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xJ6Dk_xZhC4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Factors to consider<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The most clich\u00e9d and overthought factors would be &#8211; WORK EXP. and AGE. If you are thinking about them, stop right there! Consider this &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8220;Who you are?&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/media.giphy.com\/media\/jsrgr8fJsv5MmVkYZk\/giphy.gif?resize=261%2C261&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"261\" height=\"261\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Think about what you want? Is it just any MBA or are looking for something special? Are you in a place to make rational and well-thought decisions? If not, talk to someone who can. It could be a friend, a mentor or anyone whom you trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8220;Do YOU have it in you?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Another important factor would be to consider this &#8211; <strong>&#8220;Do YOU have it in you to put your head down and study for another year and give your best for CAT 2020?&#8221;<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This again is also personal and depends on whether or not you have what is called the &#8220;GRIT&#8221;. Can you sit for another year? Brush up the basics? Practice gazillion questions, take <em>N<\/em> mocks, analyze them and repeat the drill to perfection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Factors to Avoid:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Work Experience and Age. Factors like Work exp and age really do not matter until you have work experience of 6 years or until you are pushing 30. If you have 3.5 or 4 years of work ex. and are probably 25 or 26, you should not let age or work ex change your decision of writing this exam. Obviously the entire premise of the argument changes for women candidates (I hate to generalise, but to a large extent, this happens to be true).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"280\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/online.2iim.com\/cat-exam\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/SK-4.gif?resize=500%2C280&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1469\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WHAT NOW?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have already thought about CAT 2020, read this &#8211; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will assume that you have scored a 75th percentile and tell you what should be your course of action. Be advised that any percentile north of 60, the suggestion is almost the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">75th Percentile and not a 99.9<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Say you have scored 75th percentile. This is not a great score but definitely not a bad one as well. There will be colleges that will still call you. Apply to as many as possible. Prepare for the interviews really well. Attend those interviews and crack those colleges (Get that admit!). Now, what do you get out this exercise? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The experience of attending a b-school interview. <\/li><li>The confidence to crack a b-school interview is immense.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Convert Now. Decide Later.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This might not help you right away but it will pay off about a year later when you are sitting for your dream b-school interview. You won&#8217;t have to start preparing for the interviews from scratch. You will know what to prepare for, what is expected, how to steer through an interview. Most importantly, you will not get anxious thinking about an interview. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you are done (probably by April\/May 2020) with this exercise. You can sit and start preparing for CAT 2020.
