IIM Kozhikode’s 2021 selection policy<\/a> for admission to the PGP batch of 2022-2024 has now been released. Here is a deep dive into IIM Kozhikode’s 2021 admission policy. In this article we will discuss all you need to know about IIM Kozhikode’s 2021 MBA selection criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For all of you who have not done so well in 10th and 12th here’s a good news. For example, if you have 61% in class 10th and 62% in class 12th here’s the good news for you. You can hope to get a call from IIM Kozhikode, if other things go into your way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are these other things then?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You have to qualify the sectional cutoff, which is 75 and the overall cutoff which is 85.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are meeting these minimum eligibility criteria, then you are considered into the candidate’s pool.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s try to understand what these parameters exactly mean for you<\/strong>?<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1) CAT index score<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Scaled scores from the three sections (with equal weightages) of CAT 2020 will be considered for the computation of the CAT Index Score. The CAT Index Score will carry a weight of 45%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let take an easy example to understand this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IIM Kozhikode has assigned equal weightages to all the three sections. It means each section has 1\/3rd weightage. So for example if your scaled score in VARC is 30, in DILR is 45, and in Quant is 36. Then your CAT index score might work out to be (1\/3*30 + 1\/3*45 + 1\/3*36) = (10 + 15 + 12) = 37. So 37 is going to be your CAT index score for which IIM Kozhikode has assigned 45 points out of 100.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2) Class X percentage score<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The percentage of marks obtained in SSC\/Class X\/Equivalent would be calculated based on the
aggregate marks of all subjects that appear in the marks sheet or grade sheet, irrespective of
whether the Board considers them for calculation of percentage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SSC\/Class X\/Equivalent percentage scores are first adjusted by dividing each score by the highest percentage score obtained in the Board and then that adjusted score is multiplied by 25.<\/em><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The database of SSC\/Class X\/Equivalent percentage scores of all CAT applicants for the past three years including the current year is used for identifying the highest percentage score of a Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students go gaga about this thing. But here’s a good news for you. IIM Kozhikode takes care of this issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wait, but how?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, IIM Kozhikode is going to look at your board. For example if you’re a student from West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, and you got 76% marks in 10th standard. So IIM Kozhikode will look into the marks obtained by all West Bengal board candidates in the application pool for last three years, including the current year. Then they will create a separate pool of candidates for West Bengal board student, and from that pool they will sort what is the highest percentage obtained by a student in that pool. Let’s say the highest percentage obtained by a candidate in West Bengal board is 80%. Then in that case your adjusted score will be calculated as 76\/80 = 0.95. And then they will multiply your adjusted score by 25. So, if you have this particular scenario for example then your class X percentage score will be (0.95*25)=23.75<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3) Class XII percentage score<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The percentage of marks obtained in HSC\/Class XII\/Equivalent\/Diploma would be calculated based on the aggregate marks of all subjects that appear in the marks sheet or grade sheet, irrespective of whether the Board considers them for calculation of percentage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The HSC\/Class XII\/Equivalent\/Diploma percentage scores are first adjusted by dividing each score by the highest percentage score obtained in the stream of that Board and then that adjusted score is multiplied by 15.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The database of HSC\/Class XII\/Equivalent\/Diploma percentage scores of all CAT applicants for the past three years including the current year is used for identifying the highest percentage score of a stream in a Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you can see, for class XII they do the same thing to resolve this issue, because they are aware of the relative difficulty level across different boards. Here the only difference is, after calculating your adjusted score instead of multiplying it by 25 they multiply it by 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4) Gender\/Academic diversity score<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Marks are awarded for gender\/academic diversity. Only female candidates are eligible for a gender diversity score. A candidate with (or pursuing) a bachelor\u2019s degree or equivalent in a discipline other than engineering\/technology will be eligible for the academic diversity score. A candidate is entitled only to an applicable diversity score of 10, from either gender diversity or academic diversity and not both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
