CLAT Quantitative Techniques

CLAT Quantitative Techniques section tests candidates on two tenets – Data Interpretation ability, and Mathematical & Computational skills. Data Interpretation requires comprehending data from Line Graphs, Bar Graphs, Pie Charts and the like. Computational skills can be honed with a basic understanding of mathematical concepts like Percentages, Averages, and Ratios and Proportions.

The following questions on CLAT Quantitative Techniques have been curated meticulously, taking into account the latest samples released by the Consortium of NLUs. These questions are pegged exactly at the level of difficulty of CLAT.

CLAT Quantitative Techniques: Bar Graphs

The bar graph below shows the break-up of reported COVID-19 cases by country. All the questions should be answered solely based on the bar graph below.

A new drug developed by Wayne labs is released. 80% of people who are administered the drug recover instantly. After this new drug is administered, what is the number of active cases in the US?

  1. 0.5 mn
  2. 1 mn
  3. 2.5 mn
  4. 2 mn

Explanatory Answer

We know from the solution of the previous question that there are 2.5mn active cases in the US

•USA: 5*0.5 = 2.5 mn
80% of the active cases recover = 2.5*0.8 = 2 mn

So the number of active cases in the US after the drug is administered
= 2.5 -2 = 0.5 mn

Answer: A) 0.5 mn (0.5 mn active cases will be remaining after the drug is administered)
