Question 15 : Read the Following statements and answer the question that follows:

1. It is less appealing, but morally more urgent, to understand the actions of the perpetrators.
2. It is easy to sanctify policies or identities by the deaths of the victims.
3. The victims were people; a true identification with them would involve grasping their lives rather than grasping at their deaths.
4. The moral danger, after all, is never that one might become a victim but that one might be a perpetrator or a bystander.
5. By definition the victims are dead, and unable to defend themselves from the use that others make of their deaths.

Rank the above five statements so as to make it a logical sequence:

Explanatory Answer

The sentences talk about victims and perpetrators. Punishments to perpetrators is easy, because it stems from the fact that victims suffered to death. But it is important to bring a long-term solution by analysis the root cause – that is, why the perpetrators did what they did.
If this is the flow, then the passage should first introduce the plight of the victims, then talk about theories and practices. After that, it must proceed with how perpetrators are punished, and what the ideal scenario should be.
This makes it clear that Statement 3 should open the passage. “The victims were people” states they are no more. The logical continuation is Statement 5. This makes us zero in on option 3.
The correct sequence should be 3 5 2 1 4.
