CAT Questions

CAT 2023 Quant was dominated by Arithmetic followed by Algebra. In Arithmetic, the questions were dominated by topics like Speed-time-distance, Mixture and Alligations. This year, there was a surprise. The questions from Geometry were relatively on the lower side as compared to the previous years. There were 8 TITA Qs this year. Overall this section was at a medium level of difficulty.

Mixture A and B are mixed in the ratio 2 : 3 to produce mixture C.
Let us assume that 20 kgs of mixture A is mixed with 30 kgs of mixture B to produce 50 kgs of mixture C.
Mixture A has cocoa and sugar in the ratio 3 : 2. This means, 20 kgs of mixture A contains 12 kgs of cocoa and 8 kgs of sugar. Mixture B has coffee and sugar in the ratio 7 : 3. This means, 30 kgs of mixture B contains 21 kgs of coffee and 9 kgs of sugar.
So, totally, 50kgs of mixture C has 17 kgs of sugar.
50 kgs of mixture C is mixed with 50 kgs of milk.
So, the percentage of sugar in the entire mixture \( = \frac { 17 } { 100 } \times 100 = 17 \% \)
