Read the following statements and answer the question that
follows.
Employees complaining about mundane tasks are often
ignored.
There is a listlessness that settles around them. A bored employee may
continue to
produce good results, but that can also be because the tasks are repetitive,
and the
outcomes are expected.
Which of the following options can be BEST
inferred
from the passage?
Option A is the correct answer.
The paragraph says organizations ignore the complaints bored employees make about their mundane tasks. But even good results in these cases may be due to the repetitive nature of the tasks. What is implied here is that the good results alone do not present the full/true picture. Option A is inferred from this: good performance makes organizations overlook their employees’ state of mind.
The lines given say the complaints of a bored employee who is a good performer are ignored. This does not directly imply that only if a bored employee is a bad performer the organization will take notice. Option A is a direct inference drawn with the given information whereas B is not.
Option C labels boredom a 'serious' problem that needs 'immediate' attention. The lines given do not talk about the gravity of the problem boredom presents or the urgency in addressing it. So, this option is out. Options D and E talk about listlessness around good performers. This is not the main idea of the paragraph.
Choice A is the correct answer.
