The IPM Exam season of 2021 is almost coming to an end. The last exam of the lot fetching you admissions to the Integrated Programme in Management offered by different IIMs will be held tomorrow, i.e. 10th August from 3pm to 5:30 pm (JIPMAT 2021).
2021 is the first year that IIM Bodhgaya and IIM Jammu have joined hands with other IIMs to IPM courses for students graduating from high school. Hence, not much is known about the pattern of the exam. However you can still follow the below guidelines and gear up for the exam breaking from the uncertainties engulfing it.
1. Plan Beforehand
Make sure that you plan for all the variables surrounding your exam beforehand. Know the time you have to reach the exam centre. Make all arrangement accordingly. Plan your commute and mode of conveyance so that there is no last minute rush on the D-day and there is nothing that stresses you out before the exam even starts. It is important that you reach the exam centre at the time given to you on your Admit Cards.
2. Read the Admit Card guidelines carefully
On the admit card released for your JIPMAT 2021 exam, there is a list of guidelines to help you prepare for the exam day. Make sure you go through these guidelines carefully and make necessary arrangements required to follow these.
3. Carry all Safety precautions
Your safety and well-being are of utmost importance. Hence, make sure that you strictly follow the Covid Protocols. Wear your masks all the time and carry a hand sanitizer with you. If you are permitted, carry a transparent bottle of water with you. In the exam centre maintain social distancing. Take all safety precautions to keep yourself guarded from the virus.
4. Be active on the D-Day
Feeling groggy, lethargic or sleepy on the final day will only affect your exam in a negative way. Keep yourself on your toes and be active on the day of the exam. Keep yourself occupied so that your mind does not wander and stresses you about the exam. Engaging in your favourite sport or activity could be helpful. Spend today’s day doing your favourite thing and relaxing and gearing up for the exam.
5. Don’t get distracted by the Timer
The timer flashing on your screen for the JIPMAT exam is there to help you plan and manage your time better. Do not let it distract you. Make sure that your focus does not shift towards the timer over and over again. You should not be looking at the timer every 10 seconds to make sure that you have enough time. This will only lead to a wastage of time which could otherwise have helped you solve more questions. Simultaneously, do not completely forget about the timer. You will lose track of time and you might spend unnecessarily extra amount of time on some questions with no results. Looking at the timer every 8-10 minutes will be ideal and will help you keep a tab on the amount of time you are spending on different questions.
6. Take the exam as it comes
Do not let the stress and pressure in the exam get to you. Stay calm and steer through your exam. Do not carry the mood of one section to another. Concentrate on the question you are solving and forget about whatever you have already done in the exam. If required, take a 5-10 seconds break between the sections and then dive deep into that section without worrying about the previous or upcoming section(s). Go all guns ablaze when you are starting a new section.
Remember, the exam if tough, will be tough for everybody and if easy, will be easy for everybody. You do not need to fret thinking about how easy or uneasy you are while giving the exam. You are not alone. The IPMAT exams are comparative exams and based on the difficulty level of the exam, the results/ cut-offs will vary.
Best wishes for JIPMAT 2021 from the entire 2IIM Team. We hope you ace the exam and get through the college that you aspire.
