1. Assess the Pattern of IPMAT Quants

A. Quantitative Aptitude
Most of Arithmetic, modern math, parts of geometry like mensuration, parts of algebra like progressions and LR (Logical Reasoning) puzzles can be classified as Quantitative Aptitude. This is because you have to think actively during the exam to crack these problems. It is based more on your intuitive logical sense and less on standard application of formula. Irrespective of your academic background, if you have picked up the ability to skillfully navigate through reasoning puzzles these topics become easier with practice.
If you are a candidate with a good base in 11th and 12th mathematics you have already covered most of the syllabus. But, I am sure that you don’t want to leave any stone unturned. So, it would be prudent to get accustomed to specific question types through mocks and advanced level tests. A tiny sub-tip would be to become familiar with questions that look easy but end up being super tricky. Sometimes even the best candidates run in circles because of the inability to handle non-routine questions.
If you are starting fresh with math, (Don’t fret!) identify interesting topics from areas which carry more weightage and nail those. There is usually at least 1 question from set theory, 5/6 from Arithmetic, 2-5 questions from Number theory, and 1-2 sure shot questions from P & C. B. Pure Mathematics
I won’t beat around the bush and waste your time with comforting verbiage. There is a set of problems which require the aspirant to have sound knowledge of pure mathematical concepts. These are rigorous questions where you have to put your head down and solve. Questions on matrices, functions, coordinate geometry, exponents & logs, and inequalities fall under this bracket. You should have dealt with these topics squarely in your 11th and 12th to sail through them in the exam.
For those students who are extremely confident of having all the question types in the bag, I would urge you to reconsider attempting all of them. However tempting they maybe, don’t get caught in tedious questions. The thumb rule is to complete those which can be solved quickly and then jump on to those that appear to be lengthy.
3. Taking Mocks
There isn’t a perfect time to start taking mocks. My suggestion would be to sit down and understand yourself to some extent before diving into it. If you are a student who can withstand oscillating mock scores start right away, in the blink of an eye. On the other hand, if you get frustrated with mediocre or low scores wait till you are confident with 35-45% of the IPMAT 2022 Quant topics and then start with your mock marathon.
This purpose of this idea is to instill and maintain self-belief throughout the journey. But please remember that an attitudinal shift takes you a long way while taking mocks. Confidence is your best friend throughout your preparation. So, make sure you don’t let it hit rock bottom even if the scores do (Which happens to everybody).

Analysis of your mock exam is a must after its completion. You may want to take note of the following aspects during the analysis.
A. Time Management
This part involves analysing the number of minutes spent on right answers, wrong answers and un attempted questions. The goal should be to minimize the time spent on the decision to skip complex questions and figure out efficient ways to tackle those which you got right.
B. New Question Types and Formulae
It will surely benefit you to note down new question types and their respective formulae to solve them quicker. Many may know the conceptual framework of a topic like sequences and series, but only the one who has been exposed to a variety of question types will find it easier to do those in the exam. As far as formula are concerned, do whatever helps you retain and reproduce automatically. Personally speaking, I used to write them down on a sheet of paper and stick them on the wall opposite my study desk.
C. Question selection
Choosing the right questions is a very important skill that you will have to pick during your preparation. It is not just an intuitive mind, but an experienced one that organically develops the skill of selecting the right questions. Sometimes it is between a tough question in a familiar topic and a freebie in a less-explored area. At times it is between a logical question and a lengthy usual question. So, tailor your strategies according to what suits you best.
4. Keep Calm!
I am not going to hurl jargons and preachy sayings at you. I am sure that the ordeal of your 12th standard would have taught you enough and more lessons on why it is important to be in a good head space before your exams. So, take a deep breath whenever you feel things are out of control, and believe in yourself.
5. Eat, Practice, Sleep, Repeat!
Needless to say, following a fixed routine is indispensable for IPMAT 2022 Quants preparation. Reiterative practice in quant is the holy grail to solving questions intuitively. Over-compromising on sleep to clock extra hours might end up being counter productive. So, work super hard, but don’t forget to rest.
