IIM Indore IPMAT 2021 notification has been officially released on their website. This follows IIM Rohtak’s announcement about its IPMAT 2021 examination earlier last month (you can find more details about that, here). The examination is going to be held on 16 July (Friday).
Note: This article has been updated to reflect the latest changes as per the IIM Indore’s official website. It must be noted that, as per an earlier announcement from IIM Indore, the exam was supposed to be conducted on 14 June (Monday).
Now that we have laid bare the “suspense element” right at the start, we will move on to the other important aspects from the notification.
IIM Indore IPMAT 2021: The eligibility criteria
The eligibility criteria can be split into three parts – age, qualifying examination and percentage of marks.
1) Age
The candidates wishing to apply for the IIM Indore IPMAT 2021 should have been born on or after August 1, 2001. There is, however, a relaxation of 5 years for the candidates who belong to the SC, ST or PwD categories; this means that the requirement for them is that they should have been born on or after August 1, 1996.
2) Qualifying examination
Anybody who is appearing for the IIM Indore IPMAT 2021 should have completed their 12th standard examination (the HSC exam) or the equivalent exam in 2019 or 2020. Additionally, those who are all set to write their examination in 2021 will also be eligible to appear for the IPMAT.
3) The academic track record
If the heading is ambiguous, let us de-clutter it. This refers to the minimum percentage of marks the candidates should have scored in their tenth grade examinations (SSC). The threshold is fixed as 60% of the total marks for the candidates, with a 5% relaxation given to the SC, ST or PwD candidates (they should have scored 55% of the total marks).
The second part of this criterion is that the candidates should have passed (or should pass) the 12th grade examinations.
The caveats
- The candidates who wish to appear for the IPMAT 2021 and are writing their 12th standard Board examinations in 2021 must have completed them by 31 July 2021.
- Those who belong to the IGCSE and IB Boards can also apply.
- The aggregate percentage of marks in the qualifying examination will be calculated based on all the subjects mentioned in the corresponding marksheets, irrespective of whether or not the Boards take into account all those subjects for their own calculations.
The application fee for the IIM Indore IPMAT 2021
The candidates should pay Rs. 4,130 as application fee. For those belonging to the SC, ST or PwD categories, the fee is Rs. 2,065.
For international candidates, the fee is Rs. 8,850, which should be through online bank transfer (the details of the account can be viewed from Page 3 of the notiication pertaining to the International Students, here).
The timeline
As stated earlier, the examination is going to be conducted on 16 July, 2021 (Friday). The application for registration will be open from 23 March 2021 to 5 May 2021.
The IPMAT examination details
The examination will be conducted across 34 cities all over the country, on 16 July, 2021, in the morning shift.
Note: An earlier version of the official announcement from IIM Indore had stated that the examination would be conducted in the evening shift (4.30 pm to 6.30 pm).
The international candidates should have taken SAT between 1 November 2019 and 5 June 2021, and must have scored 1,300 or above out of 1,600.
The exam pattern
As has been the case, the IIM Indore IPMAT 2021 will consist of three sections.
- Quantitative Aptitude (Multiple Choice Questions)
- Quantitative Aptitde (Short Answer)
- Verbal Ability (Multiple Choice Questions)
Each section will have a time limit of 40 minutes, and the candidates will not be allowed to wade between multiple sections, OR choose the order of the sections. The pre-determined order of the actual examination may or may not be the same as listed above.
The marking scheme
Each correct answer will fetch the candidate 4 marks, while each wrong answer will attract a penalty of 1 mark. The penalty does not apply to the non-MCQ questions.
The selection procedure
The candidates who satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria (detailed at the start of this post) and have written their IPMAT 2021 examination will each get an Aptitude Test Score (ATS), based on their performance in each sections. The details of the same can be viewed from the Table-1 in Page 3 of the official notification (which can be viewed, here).
After the candidates are called for the Personal Assessment (PA) (there is a chance that it could also be a Video-Based Assessment (VBA), as per the official announcement), the final composite score will be calculated based on the following parameters and weightages.
Component | Weightage |
Aptitude Test Score (ATS) | 65 |
Personal Assessment (PA) | 35 |
Composite Scores (CS) | Sum of the above scores |
So, do keep your calendars marked, and make sure to register as early as possible. The registration opens on 23 March.
