Question 33 : John's present age is one fourth of his father's age two years ago. John's father's age will be twice Raman's age after 10 years. If Raman's 12th birthday was celebrated 2 years ago, then what is John's present age?
Let John's current age be J.
his father's current age be F.
and Raman's current age be R.
John's present age is one fourth of his father's age two years ago.
So J = \\frac{1}{4}\\) (F-2)
John's father's age will be twice Raman's age after 10 years.
F+10 = 2(R+10)
Raman's 12th birthday was celebrated 2 years ago
R-2 = 12
J = \\frac{1}{4}\\) (F-2)
F+10 = 2(R+10)
R-2 = 12
R=14
F+10 = 2(R+10) = 2(14+10)= 48
F = 48-10 =38.
J = \\frac{1}{4}\\) (F-2) = \\frac{1}{4}\\) (38-2) = \\frac{1}{4}\\) * 36 = 9 years.
Therefore, John's current age is 9 years.
The question is "John's present age is one fourth of his father's age two years ago. John's father's age will be twice Raman's age after 10 years. If Raman's 12th birthday was celebrated 2 years ago, then what is John's present age?"
