Question 34 : Raj invested Rs 76000 in a business. After few months Monty joined him and invests Rs 57000. At the end of the year, both of them share the profits at the ratio of 2:1. After how many months Monty joined Raj?
The Profits reaped at the end will be directly proportional the Investment and also directly proportional to the time of investment.
Here Raj invested 76000 for 12 months.
Monty invested 57000, let’s say he invested for m months.
Profit earned by Raj ∝ 76000 * 12
Profit earned by Monty ∝ 57000 * m
\\frac{Profit earned by Raj}{Profit earned by Monty}\\) = \\frac{2}{1}\\)
\\frac{76000 * 12}{57000 * m}\\) = 2/1
76000 * 12 = 2 * 57000 * m
m = 8 months.
Which means, Monty invested his money for 8 months, the last eight months.
So he had invested 4 (because, 12 – 8 = 4) months after Raj invested.
Therefore, Monty has invested 4 months after Raj has invested.
The question is "Raj invested Rs 76000 in a business. After few months Monty joined him and invests Rs 57000. At the end of the year, both of them share the profits at the ratio of 2:1. After how many months Monty joined Raj?"
