Question 9: 400 students were admitted to the 2018-19 MBA batch. 200 of them did not choose “Business Statistics”.100 of them did not choose “International Management'. There were 80 students who did not choose any of the two subjects. Find the number of students who chose both Business Statistics and International management.
We fill in he Venn diagram with the information provided in the question.
200 did not choose Business Statistics means the remaining 200 chose it and similarly, 100 did not choose International management means 300 chose it.
We have to find the students who choose both Business Statistics and International Management, which is the common part of the two circles, lets say its x.
Then, BS + IM – BS ∪ IM = BS ∩ IM
200 + 300 – x = 400 – 80
Therefore, x = 180
The question is "Find the number of students who chose both Business Statistics and International management."
