IMT Profile Detail Form Filling: A Guide

IMT Profile Detail Form Filling: A Guide

IMT Profile Detail form is the latest step of the admission process that the candidates have to fill in, before 25 January. While IMT has sent an official email to all the candidates who had applied, there seems to be quite a bit of confusion about how and what to fill in the various fields of the IMT Profile Detail form.

Let us unpack the details and take it one step at a time, covering all aspects of this form.

How do access the IMT Profile Detail Form?

  1. Log in to your application dashboard.
  2. By default, when you log in, you will be at the ‘Application Form’ tab. Navigate to the ‘Profile Detail Form’ tab.
  3. Fill in the required details and verify all the particulars twice or thrice before clicking on ‘I Agree’.

What does the IMT Profile Detail Form contain?

There are several aspects, which we are going to delve deep into. But before that, if you have some details that you want to edit in under the ‘Application Form’ tab, now would be a great time to do that.

The form displays some of the details that you would have already provided while filling up the application. You can skim through them and move on to the details that have to be entered, which are as follows.

  1. Your photograph
  2. Professional Qualifications (if applicable)
  3. Academic Achievements, if any
  4. Statement of Purpose (SoP)
  5. Extracurricular activities
  6. Documents to be uploaded
  7. Video uploading

What do each of these require?

Right. That is the most important detail. Every B-school application seems to require some intricate detail in the type of document we upload, and hence it is crucial to know what are the specifics in this case.

The photograph

The candidates are expected to upload a photograph which is of size 340 kB or less. The formats recommended are .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .bmp

Professional Qualifications

The first thing to note here is that this is not a mandatory field. “If applicable” makes it clear that unless the candidates have some professional qualification (a CA degree, for example, or a course that is credible), there is absolutely no need to fill this field.

Academic Achievements

Again, this is just like the previous field, meaning it is not mandatory to fill in some detail here.

While filling in the academic achievements, though, there a few things that have to be kept in mind.

Reverse chronology

It is always a good idea to go from the most recent achievement backwards. This means the order should look something like: Postgrad achievements, undergrad achievements, higher secondary achievements and other achievements during the school days.

The level of recognition

This is pretty obvious. International, National, Regional, Zonal, District, School/College, etc. should be the decreasing order of magniture that you should be looking at when you are filling up the academic achievements fields.

The mix-and-match

Obviously, there are caveats. If you have a national level achievement in school, that takes precedence over a University level accomplishment pertaining to your undergrad. These are decisions that need to be taken on a case-by-case basis.

Statement of Purpose

Unlike the FMS Delhi SoP, which has different questions that need to be answered (check out the FMS SoP writing tips, here; the extended deadline for the same ends today), the IMT Profile Detail Form combines it all into a single field, requiring the candidates to write a 300-word SoP.

statement of purpose

This 300-word SoP should be a combination of three aspects, as mentioned in the form itself.

  1. Reason to pursue PGDM now
  2. Why IMT is the right choice for PGDM
  3. Career goals for the next 7-10 years and how IMT would help achieve the same

Now, the split is obvious. 300 words. 3 aspects.

Get the drift?

Yeah, you got that right. Each of these aspects can span a maximum of 100 words. Though there need not be a strict delineation between each of these aspects, the 100-word limit is a good threshold to keep in mind while framing the outline for the SoP.

It is ideal if the Statement of Purpose covers all three aspects seamlessly in acoherent manner. So, do not be strict about the fact that there are three sub-sections. Treat them as one single entity and try writing a 300-word pitch deck about yourself.

Extra-curricular Activities

The outline that applies to Academic Achievements fits in well with the Extra-curricular activities as well. In addition, there is one other caveat that needs to be remembered, too.

What is that?

Any extra-curricular activity for which you have documentation or paper trail comes first. For example, if you love playing Chess and incidentally also have a few certificates of having participated in some tournaments, that should be given priority over, let us say, a craft you have learnt just as a hobby.

Documents to be uploaded

There are six document fields that fall under three categories.

  1. Identification Document
  2. Examination Scorecard
  3. Graduation Document

When it comes to the examination scorecard, it goes without saying that you have to upload only the scorecards of the examination(s) – one or more among CAT, XAT, GMAT andCMAT – which you have written.

Video uploading

upload your video

Just like the Statement of Purpose should encompass three aspects, the video – the duration of which MUST BE 60 seconds or less – should encapsulate two aspects.

  1. Introduction about yourself
  2. Why IMT should choose you for its PGDM program(s)
There are quite a few relaxations, of course

This means that the video need not necessarily be shot in a technically high-end device. You can use any smartphone with good video and audio quality to record the video.

The video can be of the formats MP4, MOV, FLV, WMY, AVI.

There are certain mandates as well

Nothing in life comes without terms and conditions. Why should a video upload be any different?

  1. The candidate must speak in english as much as possible in the video.
  2. The duration must be 60 seconds or less, at any cost.
  3. Candidates should ensure that ther room is well-lit and with no disturbance.
  4. Candidate should be dressed in formals and sitting on a chair, facing the camera with his/her face and upper shoulders clearly visible.

As the form itself states, do rehearase and practice enough number of times. Do not be content with just recording one version of your video. Do listen to your video to note the tone, modulations, sitting posture and other factors before deciding on a final version.

Remember the important pointers mentioned here when you go through each and every field of the IMT Profile Detail Form.

Stay safe, submit early and best wishes.

The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight,
but they, while their companions slept,
were toiling upward in the night.
