SPJIMR PGDM 2021-23 | Selection Criteria Updates

September 18, 2020 By Rajesh [wtr-time]

SPJIMR PGDM 2021-23 | Selection Criteria Updates

SPJIMR’s PGDM is highly coveted within MBA Programmes. It is a 2-year, full-time programme which is ranked among the top 10 two-year programmes within India. A PGDM in SPJIMR Mumbai offers the following specializations:

  • Finance
  • Information Management
  • Marketing
  • Operations & Supply Chain

SPJIMR has made some changes and updates to its selection criteria for the PGDM 2021-23 programme.

SPJIMR – Selection Criteria Updates

1. Scores Accepted

SPJIMR has always accepted CAT, GMAT and XAT Scores for its PGDM programme but for the 2021-23 programme, they have decided to accept ONLY CAT or GMAT scores.

(Check out this article which helps you decide between various management exams)

IF you are an MBA Aspirant who wants to do their MBA in India and have had your eye on SP Jain’s PGDM programme, you no longer have to choose between writing CAT or XAT. CAT is the only option available within this context. SP Jain also accepts GMAT Scores, if you want to widen your reach.

2. CAT 2020 and GMAT Scores/Cut-offs

For CAT 2020 candidates, the minimum overall cut-off is placed at the 85th percentile, with the minimum sectional cut-offs being placed at the 75th percentile.

In order to learn how to prepare for the CAT 2020 pattern changes, check out this article.

For GMAT takers, the cut-off is 690 (~ 85th percentile), with minimum sectional cut-offs being placed at the 75th percentile for the Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning Sections of the GMAT.

3. Selection List Criteria

According to their website, the selection list is based on:

  • A composite score, which takes into account the applicant’s profile
  • Academic record
  • Entrance test scores (CAT/ GMAT only)
  • Relevance of work experience (if any, not mandatory to have work experience)
  • Performance in the two rounds of group interviews.
  • Applicants will be shortlisted either purely based on their profile or on a profile-cum-score basis.

The Caveat

If you are wondering why there is a need to write an exam when there is a shortlist purely based on the profile, there is a catch. You are still required to reach the minimum sectional and overall cut-offs in CAT or GMAT. Failing this, your getting shortlisted through profile will be deemed invalid.

SPJIMR PGDM 2021-23 Registration

To apply for the PGDM Programme, applicants must fill the form on the online admissions portal (which opens on September 28, 2020) by November 27, 2020. The application processing fee is Rs. 1,500.

The current intake for the PGDM 2021-23 is 240. An additional 36 seats reserved for PIO (Person of Indian Origin) / OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) and Foreign Nationals.

For the full details regarding SPJIMR’s PGDM Eligibility, check out the official document inside their website. This article’s main purpose was to state that XAT Scores will no longer be accepted for SPJIMR’s PGDM Programme. 🙂

Stay Safe. Best Wishes for CAT!

The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight,
but they, while their companions slept,
were toiling upward in the night.
