Stay Safe – Covid is dangerous
You might be tired hearing this, nevertheless it does not cause any harm to repeat this again. Covid kills. It is super dangerous, and is super contagious. To begin with, the most important thing is stay safe. If you need to go out, and cannot avoid it, take all required precautions including wearing double masks, using clean masks, sanitising your hands, washing with soap etc.
This is not new for us!
We have done entire 2020 with covid, lockdowns, partial lockdown, 144 restrictions, curfew etc. We are used to attending college lectures on webex and zoom, working through whatsapp, google meets and microsoft teams. Losing a handle on when does your day start, when does your work end, when do you find a break and all of that.
Sometimes it feels like there is so much time available at the hand, only to end the day with regrettable feeling of having not accomplished anything significant.
Stick to Schedules
Having some form of schedule helps in bringing more sanity to your day, or the very least, retaining what is left of it.
Having a schedule works wonders. Knowing that daily 8pm – 10pm you got to solve 30 quant questions will give you so much relief because it provides you with so much to hold on to, to retain your sanity, and prevent regrets (let us try when we can, shouldn’t we?).
If you are keen to start off your CAT Prep, or have started off, yet struggling to figure out how to proceed, we at 2iim, have created a schedule based on what type of aspirant you are, and you should check it out now, if you haven’t already. https://online.2iim.com/schedule is the location. Head out there, download the editable excel file, customize it to make a kickass schedule that will work for you.
Pessimism is easy. Do not give in
Overall energy and ambience around is, for a lack of a more appropriate word “bleak”. Do not overthink, do not over analyze and feel that you are being wronged, or you are being taken for a ride. With the ambient environment being what it is today, it is easy to fall into that trap and not get out of the vicious downward spiral.
CAT Preparation?
Classroom CAT Preparation is near impossible if not completely impossible in our country, as things stand today. Online is the way to go. If you think about travel, being inside a closed room with 30 individuals, this is exactly the thing that we are not supposed to do to battle the spread of covid-19.
Have some plan to start online. It helps in these dire times to continue your preparation and not worry about putting yourself and others in the way of danger. Evaluate possible online CAT coaching classes. Definitely take up demo. The easiest way to attend a demo is online. If a provider refuses to give you sufficient demo, perhaps you should run away from that provider like it is no body’s business.
Is Zoom enough?
Transitioning from a classroom to zoom brings its own set of challenges. Tracking the energy levels of the class is important. Eyeball feedback is something that is missing in Zoom, while it is very real in a classroom. Engagement levels have to be very high for an online class.
Resist the temptation?
The temptation to check out what is happening in this week’s Grand prix qualifying or an IPL Match (as of this blog being penned down, IPL has been postponed indefinitely for this year) or to watch a fabulous collection of goals that messi has scored is just a click away. Resisting the temptation is key.
Is Resisting temptation really your job to do?
The learning system should be as far away from social media. Live sessions on youtube or facebook are not helpful as much as a standalone lms based courses. Always learn in a silo. Consolidate with external help, if need be. Learning in an island helps a lot with the process of understanding an idea well, and digesting it bit by bit. Even if you are in a live course, zoom causes more distractions than the positives. You are looking at who’s got the camera on, what are others doing. At any point in time someone can unmute and ask a doubt thereby interfering with your thought process of learning.
There are several features that one should consider when you are looking for a CAT Online Course, and the following image gives you the important ones. 2IIM checks all the boxes, and has been put together over a period of 6-7 years. Our Online & Live courses are not something that is cooked up hurriedly because covid happened and we were forced online.
If you are going online, might as well check out online options and see if it works out to you. There are many questions on quora and other places as to which is the best CAT Preparation Online Classes available. But the correct answer is, there is no one right answer. The right answer depends on several factors and some of them uniquely more important to you over others.
