Why should you consider MBA in Business Analytics from IIM Bangalore?
As candidates reach the finale of their CAT preparation journey after acing the CAT exam and completing interviews. It all comes down to one final thing. Which B-School to join ? Are specialisation programs good ?
This blog addresses some common questions relating to the business analytics program offered by IIM-B.
IIM Bangalore is part of the holy trinity of B-schools in India. It is among the top-50 B-schools to pursue MBA across the world. IIM-B boasts of a strong alumni network with a rich history. And a solid setup for encouraging and conceiving entrepreneurial dreams makes it an ideal B-school. With the best faculties and a lush green campus at the heart of the garden city, IIM-Bangalore stands as “The place to B” for any MBA Aspirant.
Even so , many MBA aspirants are sceptical about opting for the MBA Business Analytics program offered by IIM-B. Here are some reasons why you should consider this program.
- Common Placements
- Strong Network & Vast Opportunities.
- Balanced Curriculum.
Common Placements:
A good package is why most of us opt for an MBA from IIM’s. While there is no question that IIM-B lands some of the most lucrative packages offered in India, but there are few doubts about how well the PGPBA batch performed. The good news is the PGPBA candidates receive the same set of opportunities. The first batch of BA completed their placements in Feb 2022. And students received offers from all domains like consulting, product management and analytics from top firms across different industries.
Strong Network & Vast Opportunities:
MBA is not just about placements, although we’d like it to be; Clubs and committees are just as important. They organize an extensive set of activities throughout the year for students to interact with each other and hone their skills. IIM-B offers equal opportunities to the students from the Business Analytics program. PGPBA students have worked as senior coordinators in academic, cultural, placement committees and other clubs. The clubs and committees help form a strong network amongst the batch and are a significant part of B-School life.
Balanced curriculum:
Let’s not forget to consider the curriculum while we are at it. The course structure focuses on building a solid foundation in analytics. Both PGP & PGPBA have common subjects for the first year. As for the second year, students have 12 credits or 4 subjects to pick from PGP courses. Besides this set, There are many other courses that are common to both PGP and PGPBA. These subjects are spread across terms to ensure easy understanding and application of the concepts.
IIM Kozhikode’s PGP- Finance & Liberal Studies Management:
IIM-K has launched two MBA specialization programs, MBA in Finance and Liberal Studies and Management. The placements, clubs, and committees are standard across all programs. Although the subjects are a bit more aligned towards the specializations from first term onwards.
The program structure and the curriculum are similar to the PGPBA course at IIM-B. But IIM-K has set up a separate section for Finance and LSM students. They do share electives with the flagship MBA students in the second year.
This is just the start as many IIMs and other B-schools are bringing specialization courses. These courses are designed to help future managers excel in the domain of their choice. Such specialization courses narrow down the focus area of students which might not allow them to explore other options. While this might sound like a negative to some, this is a good news to the rest. These courses are a better fit for students who are sure of their choice of domain. And opting for such specialization courses at top B-schools is all they need to shift gears in their career.
