SNAP 2020: The update and a few changes

SNAP 2020 – yet another entrance examination for which the details – well, partially – have been announced. ‘Tis the exam season, and we have been witnessing announcements regarding many of them.

The CAT 2020 registration deadline is nearing. The XAT 2021 registrations have commenced on 12 September amid some confusions. And NMAT registrations are starting on 14 September. Now, we have one more addition to the list – SNAP 2020.

What is SNAP?

SNAP (Symbiosis National Aptitude Test) is conducted by the Symbiosis International (Deemed University) for admissions to MBA, MBA(I&E) and MBA(L&S) programmes offered by SIBM (Symbiosis Institute of Business Management), Pune. The results of this exam are also considered for admissions into various courses offered by the 16 institutions under their helm.

What exactly has been announced about SNAP 2020?

There are quite a few announcements. The exact date and deadlines have not yet been made official. But, the SIBM Blog gives away some updates and important changes.

1) The number of attempts

Candidates can take up to two attempts of SNAP 2020. In other words, the candidates are allowed one re-take if they wish to improve their scores. The better result in the two outcomes will be considered for further rounds of the selection process.

SNAP vs NMAT

Most importantly, the candidates have to choose the number of attempts they wish to take beforehand. This is in contrast to the NMAT examination process. In NMAT, the candidates can choose to register for a retake AFTER the results of a particular attempt are released.

2) Tentative timeline

The examination is scheduled to be conducted once in December 2020, and two more times “possibly” in January 2021, according to their official blog.

As mentioned earlier, the exact dates and deadlines are yet to be announced officially.

3) The registration fee for SNAP 2020

The candidates must pay a registration fee of Rs. 1,750 for EACH ATTEMPT they wish to take. The candidates need to decide on the number of attempts beforehand. So, it is safe to say that those who might want to take the exam twice must pay the fee for both the attempts.

4) Changes in the examination pattern

SNAP 2020 is going to be a scaled down version from the earlier years. The examination duration as well as the total number of questions have been reduced.

5) Marks and penalty

Every correct answer fetches 1 mark, and every wrong one fetches a penalty of 0.25 marks.

Watch out this space for more updates on SNAP 2020, preparation tips and other B-school entrance examinations.

Stay safe and best wishes for your preparation!

The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight,
but they, while their companions slept,
were toiling upward in the night.
