Well, all the major exams of the season are done now. You should have your attention focused on the last challenge of this exam season that is XAT 2022. One of the most difficult management entrance exams, XAT is known for its unique exam pattern and marking scheme. It is necessary for the aspirants to have clarity about the latest exam structure. In this article, we will discuss the exam pattern of XAT in detail. Let’s dive into it.

The Exam Pattern

XAT is a computer-based test of 3 hours. The test consists of 5 sections that are formulated to evaluate the management aptitude of the candidates. The exam is divided into two parts: the part 1 consists of Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning, Business Decision Making, and Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation. The part 2 entails general Knowledge and Essay. Only the first part is counted in the final score.

The Major Change!

Change is the only constant.

Essay writing has been included once again in the XAT exam. A candidate has to write an essay in one of the two options given. The aspirants are expected to complete the essay within 250 words.

Key Takeaways

#Takeaway1

In short, time management is the key. Since there are no sectional time limits, you are required to judiciously allocate the time across the sections. Moreover, the sectional cut-offs are present in the XAT exam—which means, you have to perform exceedingly well across the sections.

#Takeaway2

With regards to the verbal section, two of the most crucial question types are the Reading Comprehension-based questions and critical reasoning-type questions. Hence, it is imperative to put a good amount of practice into these types of questions. Not to mention that the XAT exam has a predilection towards testing the test-takers on vocabulary—thus a wee aberration from the CAT’s prep strategy is expected.

#Takeaway3

The General Knowledge (G.K) section in the XAT exam heavily emphasizes current affairs. With consistent newspaper reading and cognizance of current happenings, one can easily ace this section. Remember, the GK section of the XAT exam is not taken into account momentarily. Nonetheless, a good score can become handy in the case of case tie-breakers.

#Takeaway4

Needless to say that the Business Decision Making is a game-changer. With more than 20 questions occupying the question paper, one cannot simply miss out on this rather extremely crucial section.

The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight,
but they, while their companions slept,
were toiling upward in the night.
