XAT 2020 | 5 things to remember
What Should be my Overarching strategy while appearing for XAT?
XAT is different from CAT on multiple fronts. There is General Knowledge, Business Decision Making, Vocab and few topics from Quant that are tested extensively.
How does it change my learning?
It really does not. You continue from where you left off your CAT preparation and add newer elements into your XAT Preparation. For instance, if you think you need to work on vocab for XAT, the answer is, if you had a reasonable reading habit, you are covered for your Vocab basics as well.

Tough Verbal and RC?
XAT Verbal has been comparatively tougher than CAT usually. However, with CAT 2019 being super tough than ever before, most likely the toughness would match with the same.
Poems are a part of RC in XAT. Do not be surprised when you face poems. Sentence Rearrangement type questions will have options (unlike CAT).
What about Business Decision Making Questions?
Business Decision making is a juicy section in terms of how you understand and answer. However, it could also turn out to be a double edged sword. Have your basics in place and try questions from past XAT BDM so that you have a good idea of How to Approach XAT BDM.

How different is Quantitative Aptitude?
Quantitative Aptitude basics are absolutely same as CAT, with emphasis laid on topics like Arithmetic, Geometry, Trigonometry, Coordinate Geometry, Inequalities & Functions.

How Important is GK for XAT 2020?
General Knowledge is used in the last step. And not anywhere else.
Post Personal Interview round, if there is a tie between two candidates, GK marks are used to resolve the tie. Right now plan and prepare for GK, but do not overdo. Also, GK Score is not counted for your overall XAT Percentile.
Other Important things to do for XAT 2020 Preparation?
- Before your Exam begins, read the screen full of instructions available. It might contain useful information that can make or break an attempt.
- You can travel between sections during XAT. Do not over analyse it to death trying to come up with a foolproof strategy.
- The best strategy out there is to accept that there are strategies that are worse and better. But No one strategy is foolproof.
- Stay away from media/social sites that can increase your anxiety pre-exam.
